GARDEN TOURS

Cape Fear Botanical Garden is an approved field trip site with the Cumberland County Board of Education and is

within activity bus range for Cumberland County Schools.

Conducted by a trained Garden Guide, guided tours cover a variety of topics. Each tour provides age-appropriate content and can be adapted for different ages and abilities. We recommend limiting tour group size to less than 60 students. Although we can accommodate larger groups, the availability of guides limits this so please check with us before planning a large group trip. Tours operate Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and last approximately one-hour.

Guided Tour Topics:

Flower Promenade - Focuses on the landscaped areas at the Garden entrance, the Heritage Garden and the Great Lawn.  Best done in spring or summer and suitable for all ages.

Urban Forest  - A walking study of plants and the benefits of urban forests along the wooded nature trails.

Down to the River Hike – A woodland adventure which examines the shift in plant communities and ecological conditions relative to the Cape Fear River.  Note: Because of the more strenuous nature of this hike, this is not recommended for exceptional classes.

Heritage Farm Life – Explore the daily life at the turn of the 19th century on a typical farm including explanations of the various buildings surrounding the farmhouse.

Fees: $4 per child (minimum charge of $40 per group)

         Teachers/Chaperones - Free

To schedule a student tour, print a Student Registration Form and follow the instructions.  Please do not bring your group without confirmation from the Garden office.
