February 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Discover how to create your own functional greenhouse using affordable, accessible materials. In this seminar, participants will learn the fundamentals of greenhouse design, explore options for simple construction, and gain practical strategies for managing temperature, light, and airflow to support healthy plant growth. Whether you’re a home gardener or a DIY enthusiast, this session provides the essential knowledge and confidence to plan, build, and maintain a small greenhouse tailored to your space and climate.

Benefits/Learning Outcomes:

  • Design Skills: Students will be able to design a functional greenhouse layout—including frame structure, ventilation plan, and material selection—based on climate needs and available space.
  • Construction Techniques: Students will demonstrate the ability to construct a small-scale greenhouse using common DIY materials (e.g., PVC, wood, poly sheeting) while applying safe and effective building practices.
  • Environmental Control Understanding: Students will explain how temperature, humidity, light, and airflow affect plant growth and identify at least three methods to regulate these conditions within a greenhouse.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Students will be able to perform routine greenhouse maintenance and diagnose common issues such as pests, mold, or structural wear, proposing practical solutions for each.
