Description: Dive into the world of natural remedies in this engaging seminar on medicinal plants and their healing properties. Learn to identify common medicinal herbs, understand their traditional and modern uses, and discover how to safely incorporate them into your daily wellness routine. From calming teas to skin-soothing salves, participants will explore practical applications of plant-based healing through expert guidance. 

Audience Target:
Adults and teens ages 10+. Ideal for herbal beginners, wellness enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the power of plants to support health and vitality.

Classroom Lecture

Benefits/Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify Common Medicinal Plants – Participants will learn to recognize and name key medicinal herbs found in gardens, markets, and the wild.
  • Understand the Health Benefits and Uses of Medicinal Plants – Participants will explore the traditional and contemporary uses of various herbs to support physical and emotional well-being.
  • Prepare Simple Herbal Remedies – Participants will gain hands-on experience making teas, tinctures, salves, or infusions using safe and effective methods.
  • Practice Safe and Sustainable Herb Use – Participants will learn best practices for dosing, sourcing, and storing medicinal plants while respecting their potency and ecological impact.

Presenter: Marlena Chieffo possesses a deep passion for promoting wellness through nature-based activities. Her expertise includes Horticultural Therapy and a strong background in sustainable vegetable production. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling with a concentration in art therapy. Marlena strives to foster a compassionate, resilient and holistic approach to all of her work.
