You’ll learn the process of selecting succulents\, artfully displaying them\, and caring for them long-term. This workshop will help you design a dish garden that brings vibrant\, green life to your indoor space. \nAudience Target:\nAdults and teens ages 10+ interested in gardening\, succulents\, or botanical art. No prior gardening experience required. \nFormat:\nA hands-on workshop focused on planting and arranging succulents in decorative dishes. \nMaterials Provided/Fee Includes: \n\nSucculent plants and a dish for planting\nSoil and planting materials\nDecorative Accents for the Dish Garden\nHands-on guidance and care instructions\nWorkshop handouts with tips for succulent care and home display ideas\nGarden Admission for the entire day of the event\n\n  \nFee:\n$40\, $35 members. \nPresenter: Education Specialist Wendy Marshburn has always enjoyed nature\, whether hiking in the mountains or strolling down the beach\, finding beautiful shells.  As a student\, she sought a science-based degree\, receiving a Bachelor of Science at Clemson University in 1993.  While raising her children on her husband’s family farm\, she enjoyed gardening\, composting\, and teaching the next generation to care for Mother Nature.  Wendy taught school for 13 years and led three teams of middle schoolers to the State Envirothon Competition.  She now enjoys further sharing her knowledge and love for nature by teaching at Cape Fear Botanical Gardens as an Education Specialist.   As an Education Specialist\, I enjoy helping others learn to enjoy nature while finding their “creative side”.  She wants others to find that perfect combination of nature and knowledge where they can learn without trying and just enjoy the activity. \nPlease preregister here!

Each day we’ll explore a new branch of science with activities including breaking open geodes\, dissecting owl pellets\, creating clay circuits\, mixing up string slime\, and meeting live animals. \nWeekly Camps: $185/camper ($150 for CFBG members) \n  \nWhat to Wear? \nAll camps will go outside every day\, weather allowing. Please send children dressed for the weather\, with sunscreen and bug spray pre-applied and close-toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals\, please). Dress to get messy exploring outdoors\, creating art\, and doing science. \nWhat to Bring? \nAll camps include a snack provided by the Garden with a fresh fruit or vegetable.
